The Phoenix area can expect a heavy chance of rainfall throughout the weekend with the potential for rain increasing on Saturday.
"Rain chance, itself, is 60% tomorrow in Phoenix during the day. It goes up to 90% Saturday night," said National Weather Service Phoenix meteorologist Jared Heil.
Conditions are looking more favorable for heavy rainfall across south-central Arizona tomorrow and Sunday. The most likely (60%) amount for the Phoenix area is 1-1.5 inches, while there is a 40% chance of less than inch. #azwx #cawx pic.twitter.com/37ikLTZppv

The threat overview for parts of southern-central Arizona, southwest Arizona and southeast California show a 15% chance of flash flooding and a 30% chance of strong or severe storms.
Weather service officials want people, especially in the Phoenix area, to be mindful of flash flood watches.
"What we're trying to hit on is that widespread half-inch to inch and a quarter of rain is expected but some areas could see localized 2-inch plus amounts on a very, very isolated basis; and it's in those areas where flash flooding could occur over the weekend." Heil said.
