Flash Floods Batter Texas Coast as Nicholas Makes Landfall

Storm Nicholas made landfall in Texas early on September 14, bringing storm surges and flash flooding.

This footage, filmed by Buddy Broussard, shows torrents of water flowing through his deck and driveway in Matagorda as heavy rain battered the area on Monday evening, shortly before Nicholas made landfall.

Speaking to Storyful, Broussard said that the Colorado River flooded near his home, but the place was undamaged because it was built on 12-foot stilts.

The National Hurricane Center warned the heavy rainfall could result in “life-threatening flash and urban flooding” along the southern coast.
