'Flash' Star Ezra Miller Makes First Red Carpet Appearance Since Arrests

Ezra Miller, who plays The Flash in the upcoming DC Studios superhero movie of the same name, has appeared for the first time in public following a string of controversies leading up to their criminal trial for an alleged May 2022 burglary.

Miller, 30, reached a plea bargain agreement with prosecutors in January of this year. They had previously been arrested twice in Hawaii in 2022 and charged for disorderly conduct and harassment.

Though some wondered if the nonbinary actor would be removed from The Flash due to the controversy, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios chose to keep Miller in the title role. On Monday, the film had its Los Angeles premiere at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Miller briefly walked the red carpet at Ovation Hollywood, and introduced the DC Studios release alongside actors Ben Affleck and Sasha Calle and director Andy Muschietti, among others.

"It's a beautiful moment for me. It's really wonderful to see everybody and have a moment to celebrate this movie that has been sort of a journey," Miller said in a red carpet interview shared on Entertainment Tonight's TikTok page.

Miller took a moment to thank Muschietti, Zach Snyder (Justice League), and Warner Bros. executives ahead of the screening.

Per Deadline, they also voiced their appreciation for DC Studios co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran “for [their] grace and discernment and care in the context of my life and in bringing this moment to fruition.”

Last August, in a statement shared with Variety, Miller apologized for their controversial behavior and stated that, although they had been “suffering complex mental health issues,” they were "committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe, and productive stage."

The Flash will release across the United States June 16.
