Having just announced his retirement from the game in early August at the age of 45, Gianluigi Buffon's storied career was given a fittingly nostalgic send-off against his 2003 Champions League final conqueror.

In the 21st minute, the Ukrainian coolly dispatched a penalty with a cunning Panenka technique, deceiving the goalkeeper.

The goal, reminiscent of the 2003 Champions League final between Milan and Juventus, when Shevchenko scored the winning goal in a penalty shootout against Buffon, brought warm embraces between the two legendary players.
