Fleabag star Sian Clifford has revealed that the BBC hit has some very famous fans – including Brad Pitt.

Recalling the time Pitt met the show’s creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge at The American Film Institute awards, Clifford told The Guardian: “Brad Pitt literally fan-girling over Phoebe is without question the most surreal thing I’ll ever see in my life.”

The star, who played Fleabag’s uptight sister Claire in the show, added: “I just shook his hand. Ah, to shake people’s hands. Thank God coronavirus hadn’t arrived then, that would have scuppered that meeting. But we laughed for the rest of the day, it was so stupid.”

Reflecting on winning a Bafta for her performance at last year’s virtual ceremony, Clifford said: “I will never forget that feeling when that was announced, and I nearly vomited into my laptop camera. I absolutely had not prepared a thing.”

Last summer, Waller-Bridge confirmed that Fleabag will never return. “I think we have to let her go, she’s exhausted,” she told The Mirror. “She's been through a lot.”

The critically-acclaimed comedy ended with its second series in 2019. Waller-Bridge was feted with Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Writer and Outstanding Comedy Series.

She was also the first Brit to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 38 years.
