A fleeing motorcyclist sustained major injuries when he slammed into a GMC Sierra during a four-vehicle traffic incident that included a sheriff's patrol unit colliding with two vehicles in Apple Valley.

The collision on Friday included the deputy driving a Dodge Charger patrol vehicle, a 55-year-old man in a GMC, a 33-year-old woman in a Mitsubishi Montero and the driver of a 2016 BMW motorcycle.

The Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station reported that at approximately 9:50 p.m., a deputy began a pursuit after witnessing a motorcyclist speeding eastbound on Bear Valley Road.

The motorcycle approached the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Kiowa Road, while in front of him was the GMC traveling in the No. 1 lane and the Mitsubishi traveling in the No. 2 lane.

The motorcycle collided with the rear end and passenger side of the GMC and slid across the intersection. The driver of the motorcycle sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

As the deputy attempted to catch up to the motorcycle, he collided with the passenger side rear-end of the GMC, then collided into the driver's side rear tire of the Mitsubishi.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was transported to a nearby hospital for minor injuries; the driver of the GMC complained of minor pain, and the deputy was not injured.

The intersection of Bear Valley and Kiowa roads was closed for several hours while deputies from the Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team processed the scene and conducted the investigation on the two collisions.

Anyone with information, or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked by the Sheriff’s Department to contact Deputy F. Zavala at the Hesperia Police Department a 760-947-1500.
