A little luck from an old friend and a lot of generosity from a local business will go a long way this season for the Licking Heights High School track team.

Thanks to Suzie Ketcham, former Licking Heights employee and coach, the high school track team was one of four school districts selected for a free Saucony shoe giveaway from Fleet Feet. These giveaways are possible through Fleet Feet’s Team Triumph Shoe Scholarship Fund, which provides athletic resources to schools across central Ohio.

According to Rita Pendexter, Assistant Athletic Director, Ketcham entered the Licking Heights team into a drawing of schools eligible for the Team Triumph Shoe Scholarship Fund giveaways.

Fleet Feet’s team came to a track practice in February and provided each Licking Heights student-athlete with a specialized fitting to find the right pair of Saucony shoes. Students also received a drawstring bag and a free sweatshirt or T-shirt of their choice.

Licking Heights had a successful indoor track season with four students competing in the Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OATCCC) indoor track state championships on March 3-4, 2023. In order to qualify for the indoor state meet, students had to be ranked in the top 24 in the state in their events.
