Fans of sapphic pop are being FED this morning by FLETCHER and Hayley Kiyoko, and it tastes just like a "Cherry!"

Lesbian Jesus Hayley Kiyoko and Queer Queen FLETCHER have teamed up to deliver the latest, and greatest, queer bop, a banging new track called "Cherry."

“Hello, nice to meet ya my name’s Cari/we should rendezvous sometime mon chéri/I want you on top of me like cherry,” the chorus goes, and we can’t and won’t stop singing along. When Hayley comes along and sings the same chorus, but with her name, you realize how perfect it is. These gay geniuses have actually incorporated back-and-forth flirting in the song, and I never thought about how hot it would be to hear a woman’s voice seductively say “hi Hayley” like that!

This is a pure banger, wasting no time at two and a half minutes. It’s got such a fun, energetic beat that you can’t help but smile and bop around your house while listening, and with such an infectious hook, it gets stuck in your mind — and you never want it to leave!

"'Cherry' is the prequel to my most recent single 'girls girls girls.' It’s the curiosity you have about someone before you’re intimate with them and kind of wondering what it would be like," FLETCHER said in a statement. "When I was creating it I couldn’t get the idea out of my head of having Hayley Kiyoko on it. We then went into the studio together and made it a million times better. It’s a moment for the girls, gays, and theys."

"I had such a blast working on Cherry with FLETCHER," Kiyoko added. "We’ve been trying to collaborate for years and this song couldn’t be more perfect for us! I hope the fans love it and can blast it while feeling flirty, playful, and free."

"Cherry" is part of a great end of the year for queer girl pop. Not only have we had FLETCHER’s other single "girls girls girls" (which cleverly reclaims Katy Perry’s queerbaiting breakout song "I Kissed a Girl"), but we’ve also gotten some all-time classics from MUNA and Zolita.

I’ve already written about “Silk Chiffon,” by queer rockers MUNA and Phoebe Bridgers. It’s not only one of the best sapphic songs ever, but one of the best songs of the year. And Zolita’s “Somebody I Fucked Once” is equally terrific.

We’re in a new era of plentiful, fun, and happy sapphic bops, and we are LOVING it!
