Flight Data Recorder From Crashed Sriwijaya Air Flight Recovered by Indonesian Navy Divers

One of the two black boxes from the Sriwijaya Air flight that crashed into the Java Sea on January 9 was recovered by Indonesian Navy divers on January 12.

The flight data recorder black box was discovered almost one week after the aircraft lost contact shortly following takeoff from Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The airline said 62 people were on board the flight, including six crew.

In a video posted to Twitter Indonesia’s Navy said it would continue to search for the second black box, the cockpit voice recorder, and the bodies of the crash victims. Credit: TNI Angkatan Laut via Storyful
