A Flint man was critically injured in a single vehicle traffic crash Saturday in Grant Township.

Rescue crews responded to reports of a single vehicle rollover at about 11:15 p.m. at the intersection of Vincent and Burtch roads, the St. Clair County Sheriff Department said.

Rescue crews found the 30-year-old Flint man trapped in a vehicle on the north side of the intersection. Shortly after, a 911 call was made at an address in the 7000 block of Vincent Road, where a 34-year-old Grant Township woman was located with injuries sustained in the crash, the sheriff department said.

Investigators concluded the Grant Township woman was northbound on Vincent Road when she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the right side of the road, where it rolled multiple times before coming to rest.

The woman left the vehicle, while the man was trapped due to vehicle damage and required the assistance of the Grant Township and Fort Gratiot fire departments to free him, the department said.

Both occupants were transported to McLaren Port Huron; the man had life-threatening injuries while the woman had non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman was wearing a seat belt while the male passenger was not, the department said.

Police said speed and alcohol use are believed to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Michigan State Police and Tri-Hospital EMS also responded to the scene.
