The Flintstones is getting an adult reboot from Pitch Perfect star
Pitch Perfect and The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks is set to reboot classic animated series The Flintstones.
For those hiding under a (Bed)rock for the last 50-odd years, the original show (and subsequent movie adaptations) centred on the misadventures of the Flintstone family – Fred, Wilma, Pebbles and pet Dino – who lived in a modern day reimagining of the Stone Age.
Broadcast on ABC, the series ran for six seasons altogether and comprised of over 150 episodes.

According to Variety, the remake is currently in early development and has been described as a "primetime animated adult comedy series based on an original idea featuring characters from The Flintstones".
Banks' production company Brownstone Productions is teaming up with Warner Bros. Animation on the project, although no network is attached just yet.
Could we be on for some Family Guy-esque Stone Age antics?
Funnily enough, back in 2011 Family Guy mastermind Seth MacFarlane was busy working on a reboot of The Flintstones, but ultimately the project was put on ice due to his hectic schedule.
Meanwhile, new producer Banks has reawakened another sleeping giant in the form of Charlie's Angels, which stars Twilight actress Kristen Stewart in a female-centric reboot set for release later this year.
Now that's a woman on a mission.
