The "Flip or Flop" star announced on Instagram she had encapsulated her placenta after the birthing process had finished.

The process involves letting it dry and then pressing it into pill form and ingesting it orally.

“First time I’ve tried it — and I think these placenta encapsulation [pills] are working," the new mother captioned the photo of the container filled with gray-colored placenta pills.

Also, in the photo is Christina and husband Ant Anstead's baby boy, Hudson, who can be seen sleeping in his bassinet.

Medical professionals have debated this topic for years now, some saying the placenta itself passes nutrients and oxygen to your child during pregnancy, and when consumed can fight off post postpartum depression.

Others argue that although the placenta is revered in many cultures, there is scarce evidence that eating the placenta after the newborn's birth has any helpful affects for the new mother.

Christina is not the only celebrity to jump on the trend, the list includes stars like Kim, Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen, Hilary Duff, and Katherine Heigl who have all talked about doing it.

In this case, at least Anstead has allowed a company to press it into pill form. Some new mothers have been known to actually cook the placenta after birth and make a meal out of it.

Christina and Ant welcomed their newborn son at Hoag Hospital in Orange County.
