Flood warning for southeast corner of Indy, southern Indiana
Roads near rivers in southeast Indianapolis and southern Indiana may have some flooding this weekend after days of rain, according to the National Weather Service.
"Do not attempt to cross any flooded areas," said meteorologist Randy Bowers.
The National Weather Service identified the following rivers for flood warnings until late tonight: Big Blue River at Carthage, Mill Creek near Cataract, Buck Creek at Acton and Sugar Creek at New Palestine.
By the afternoon, the organization added the following rivers to the flood warning: Flatrock River near Columbus, Driftwood River near Edinburgh, Youngs Creek near Amity, Sugar Creek near Edinburgh, Muscatatuck River at Vernon, Mississinewa River near Ridgeville and Eel River near Ridgeville.
Smaller streams will flood this weekend and flow into larger rivers that may flood in the upcoming week, according to NWS. Homes are not likely to be flooded, Bowers said.
Indianapolis is also under a warning for high wind speeds until the end of the day and may see some tree damages and few power outages, according to NWS.
