Flooding Disrupts Rail Travel Across Central Scotland Following Heavy Rain
Heavy rain brought flooding across Scotland’s West and Central Belt on Friday, December 30, forcing the closure of rail routes, Network Rail said.
Network Rail Scotland shared a video of flooding at a railway station in Bowling, a village northwest of Glasgow. Traffic Scotland also warned of travel disruptions at the A82 carriageway in Bowling, advising drivers to “take care”.
The Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for parts of Scotland on Friday. The service said strong southerly winds and rain would last through the day before clearing from the west.
In an update, Network Rail said they managed to clear the floodwater at Bowling and the railway was reopened. “Services will still be disrupted while ScotRail work to get their trains and crews back into position which takes time,” they added. Credit: Network Rail Scotland via Storyful
