Flooding reported in North Jersey: Here's how much rain has fallen so far
- Oops!Something went wrong.Please try again later.
It's another rainy day in North Jersey on Friday as an already-drenched region gets further soaked.
Over an inch of rain already fell in the area by Friday morning and enough rain is expected that Gov. Phil Murphy urged caution. Some parts of North Jersey could get up to 4 inches.
The rain already caused some flooding on Route 3 in Clifton that closed a lane, per the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Hoboken officials also reported significant flooding throughout the city.
There is still a flood watch for the region until late tonight, according to the National Weather Service.
The bulk of the rain has already moved through, said meteorologist Faye Morrone, but there is still the potential for more rain until Saturday morning.
There are also flood watches along the Saddle River in Lodi and the Ramapo River in Mahwah.
Heavy rainfall and flash flooding is expected to hit New Jersey tonight and tomorrow ⛈️
The coastline and northeastern parts of the state will be most heavily impacted by the storm.
Watch for updates and never drive or walk through flooded roads. Stay safe, New Jersey!— Governor Phil Murphy (@GovMurphy) September 29, 2023
