Floor Band, Screams of Sanity, advance to Final Exam in Tri-C High School Rock Off

Two high school bands featuring members from Hudson have advanced to the Final Exam in the 27th annual Tri-C High School Rock Off.

High school bands from across the nation competed in a series of performances, which started last month. The Final Exam, which highlights the top 12 bands, is March 2 at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first band goes on at 6:30 p.m.

Floor Band includes Miles Muller, Jack Warner, and Ella Choi, all from Hudson. Screams of Sanity, includes Mark Schooling, Alex Stout, Ethan Musser and Charles Hutchins. They attend the Chippewa, Wadsworth and Hudson schools.

Bands selected for the Rock Off played a 15-minute set during the Rock Off semifinal rounds at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. During each of the Rock Off rounds, three bands were selected by a panel of judges to move on to “The Final Exam.”

All finalists recorded original song at Tri-C’s Gill and Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts, which will be produced by Jim Stewart Recording and students from Tri-C’s Recording Arts program. These songs will be available as free downloads on www.rockhall.com/rockoff.

First place prize includes $3,000, and $250 will be awarded to the first place prize winner’s high school music program. There also will be an opportunity to perform at a format-appropriate Live Nation or House of Blues Cleveland concert as an opening act, or on a secondary performance stage.

Second place prize is $1,500, and $100 will also be awarded to the second place prize winner’s high school music program.

Third place prize is $500.

All prize money is compliments of Mickey Thompson Tires and Wheels.
