Florence-Henry teams win; No. 1 Hamlin girls take battle of unbeatens

Florence-Henry recorded a doubleheader sweep over Great Plains Lutheran on Thursday in Eastern Coteau Conference basketball in Watertown.

The Falcons (11-1) rolled to a 58-25 win in the girls' game and completed the sweep with a 58-55 victory over the Panthers in the boys' game.

Caylin Kelly notched her 1,000th career point in the first game, finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals in less than a half of play. Trinity Watson added 16 points, Reese Schmidt 10, Katelyn Klitze six and Aubrie Hartley five.

Olivia Holmen collected eight points, Halle Bauer five points and three steals and Esta Cameron four rebounds for GPL.

In the boys' game, Peyton Roe celebrated his birthday with a team-leading 14 points for Florence-Henry. Clay Trupe and Ty Bergh each added 13 and Mehki Keller 10. Trupe also snared 10 rebounds.

Alex Heil and Austin Rubendall each scored 13 points for GPL, which also got nine points from Myles York and seven from Hayden Karli. York finished with five rebounds.

Other Girls Basketball

Hamlin 52, Sisseton 43: The Chargers won the battle of unbeaten teams by getting 16 points from Kami Wadsworth, 13 from Ally Abraham, nine from Addie Neuendorf and eight from Brooklyn Brandriet in the Northeast Conference showdown.

Redfield 51, Clark-Willow Lake 47: Gracie Fast's 12 points and 12 rebounds led the Pheasants to the Northeast Conference victory. Ashlyn Clausen contributed 13 points and Ellie Evans 10. Tehya Vig finished with 16 points, Musonda Kabwe 14 and Kayla Jordan 13 for the Cyclones.

Leola-Frederick Area 42, Faulkton Area 32: The Titans took the Lake Region Conference game behind Laura Sumption's 17 points and Sophia Losure's 10 points and six rebounds. Addison Melius had 13 points and Gabby Kast eight for Faulkton Area. Kast and Paislee Martinmaas grabbed six rebounds each.

Milbank 65, Deuel 41: Maurina Street's 21 points and four steals, Isabella Anderson's 15 points and six rebounds, Siera Wenzl's 11 points and Tya Berry's nine led Milbank to the Northeast Conference win. Josie Andersen produced 10 points and Kaitlyn Gubrud and Jalyn Bury nine apiece for Deuel. Emma Hamann added five rebounds.

Potter County 53, North Central 38: PC used 18 points from Tyler Simon and Ashlee Kaup to prevail. Aimee VanderVorst notched 12 points and nine rebounds, Brittney Frickson nine points and Ella Batie eight points for NC.

Scores: Sioux Valley 57, Baltic 33 (Big East Conference Tournament); Sully Buttes 50, Hitchcock-Tulare 42; Oakes 55, LaMoure-Litchville-Marion 40 (N.D.) and MACCRAY 56, Ortonville 26 (Minn.). No other details were reported.

Aberdeen Roncalli 53, Britton-Hecla 19: In the Northeast Conference, the Cavaliers cruised with 11 points from Caden Shelton, eight each from Maddox Miller and Darwin Gambler and seven from Jayden Monroe. Dawson Treeby led Britton-Hecla with 10 points.

De Smet 51, Canistota 39: Damon Wilkinson tallied 17 points and eight rebounds and Kadyn Fast 12 points, George Jensen nine and Thomas Aughenbaugh eight for the third-rated Class B Bulldogs. Tage Ortman had 19 points and Brandon Kjetland nine rebounds for Canistota.

Hamlin 67, Sisseton 22: Brennan Keszler scored 17 points, Jackson Wadsworth 12, Tyson Stevenson 11 and Rylan Bawdon 10 to lift Hamlin to the Northeast Conference win. Carter Stickland had five points for Sisseton.

Faulkton Area 50, Leola-Frederick Area 34: The Trojans won the Lake Region Conference game by getting 24 points, 14 rebounds and six steals from Layne Cotton; 13 points from Roman DiMaria and nine from Spencer Melius. Hans Lapka (13 points and five rebounds) and Noah Kippley (eight points) paced LFA.

Potter County 65, North Central 52: Ryder Falkenhagen scored 22 points, Alex Tanner 17 and Landon Larson 15 for PC. NC got 18 points and 13 rebounds from Bastien Delalande, 15 points from Raynor Sprague and nine from Cole Bukaske.

Milbank 54, Deuel 44: Joe Schulte's 19 points and six rebounds, Garrett Mertens' 10 and seven and Jaxson Wildung's nine and seven lifted Milbank to the Northeast Conference win. Justus Osborn and Eli Johnson each added six points. Gavin Benck notched 16 points and seven rebounds, Braydon Simon 11 points and Trey Maaland eight points and six steals for Deuel.
