Actor Florence Pugh has criticised Adidas for not immediately cutting ties with Kanye West over his antisemitic comments.

Since the rapper and fashion designer spread antisemitic conspiracy theories and said he was going to go "death con 3" on Jewish people, a host of companies have severed their relationships with him including Balenciaga.

Pugh reacted to the news on Instagram and criticised the sports giant for not acting quicker. She wrote: "That was too long a wait for something so obvious. No thanks."

Adidas have had a collaborative relationship with West through his Yeezy brand since 2015, selling high-end trainers and clothing.

In a statement, the German company said: "Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech. Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness."

The statement continued: "After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies. Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect."

Other companies to terminate their relationships with the controversial musician include Vogue Magazine, his representatives Creative Arts Agency and retailer Gap.

West did apologise for some of his comments during a recent interview with Piers Morgan: "I will say, I’m sorry for the people that I hurt with the Defcon… the confusion that I caused."

He added: "I feel like I caused hurt and confusion and I’m sorry for the families that had nothing to do with the trauma that I had been through. Hurt people hurt people – and I was hurt."
