Florida basketball fans flock to Final Four amid lower ticket prices

Florida Atlantic basketball fans can find tickets to the Final Four for less than the price of a roundtrip Brightline to Miami.

The get-in price for Saturday night’s contests in Houston was just $45 as of Thursday afternoon according to ticket resale company Stubhub.

Florida fans already appear to be flocking to NRG Stadium (capacity 71,000) in droves as Sunshine State purchasers have scooped up 10 percent of tickets, the second-most so far.

Texas leads with 45 percent of all sales while California (8%), Alabama (5%) and Connecticut (4%) round out the top 5.

Florida basketball fans can thank the Miami Hurricanes for the cheaper tickets.

Stubhub reported a 15 percent decline in average ticket prices after the elimination of Houston and Texas by Jim Larranaga’s squad in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight last weekend.

Overall, the company reports that tickets are 20 percent cheaper than last year’s final average ticket price.
