Video Transcript

- Governor Ron DeSantis is asking the federal government to lift its lockdown of the cruise industry so that cruises can set sail again from the United States by this summer. The CDC has kept its no sail order in place because of the pandemic.

RON DESANTIS: They're acting like the cruise ships are going to be this massive problem, when we already know they're not, because they're doing it in other places. And that's kind of the best, you can have your model, you can have your whatever you surmise, but the observed experience is the most powerful. And if you're doing it and you're doing it without a hitch in other places, then you need to be able to do it here in the United States.

- DeSantis says the state is exploring legal action to force the cruise industry to reopen. So far, the CDC has rejected a request by the cruise industry to resume sailing in July. It says the no sail order will remain in effect until November 1.
