A 9-year-old girl has died after she was hit in a San Carlos Park driveway Thursday, Florida Highway Patrol reports today.

A 27-year-old Fort Myers man was driving a pickup about 6 p.m. Thursday into a driveway in the 18400 block of Phlox Drive when the girl emerged from between two parked cars into his path, troopers said.

She was taken to Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash.
