Florida Keys' first all-inclusive resort shuttering for months after devastating fire

The Florida Keys' first-ever all-inclusive resort is shutting down until the end of the year after a fire ripped through the property's main building.

Bungalows Key Largo, an adults-only luxury getaway , detailed the incident on its website.

"Due to an early morning fire on Sunday, May 5th, which was isolated within the Beach House, the resort will be closed. We are accepting reservations in anticipation of reopening December 20th 2019," the statement read.

No one was injured in the fire, but the Beach House, which housed the resort's restaurant, bar, spa and lobby, was severely damaged, according to the Miami Herald and Fox News.

The Miami Herald reports that the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the state Fire Marshal.

The resort opened to much fanfare at the close of 2018, billing itself as the first all-inclusive resort in the region. Just a year prior, many hotels in the Florida Keys took a beating after Hurricane Irma ravaged the area.

The Bungalows boast 12 acres on the oceanfront with 135 private bungalows. And the luxury property has been well-reviewed. It has 4.5 out of 5 stars on TripAdvisor.
