Florida looking to flip this LSU commit after tight end flipped to Stanford

Mason Taylor is currently committed to LSU, but Florida is beginning to push for the three-star tight after losing one of its commits at the position earlier this month, according to 247Sports.
C.J. Hawkins announced his de-commitment from Florida and flip to Stanford on Twitter at the beginning of October, leaving tight ends coach Tim Brewster with an open slot to fill. With the announcement of Ed Orgeron and LSU separating at the end of the season, the Tigers are a natural target to try and flip recruits from. That’s where Taylor comes in.
After a June visit, Taylor earned a scholarship offer from Florida, but his July commitment to LSU ended any contact with the school until a few weeks ago.
“They started talking to me maybe a week and a half ago or two weeks ago,” Taylor said to 247Sports. “Things have been going great. Just checking in. We are going to schedule a visit for FSU for the game so I will be up there.”
The planned visit indicates that Taylor is indeed open to changing his commitment, but Orgeron has already reached out to try and retain him for the next coach. Taylor also has an offer from the University of Alabama, so he has a clear path to play in the SEC even if LSU doesn’t feel right for him anymore.
He’ll wait to figure things out for now, but it’s safe to say that Taylor’s recruitment is wide open. At No. 462 on the 247Sports Composite, Taylor is well ahead of Hawkins at No. 620. He’s also an in-state recruit, so Brewster and company will have plenty of chances to visit him down in South Florida.
