Florida man arrested for shooting death of Burger King employee over complaints of long line
A Florida man has been accused of shooting and killing a Burger King drive-thru employee after his partner complained about how long the line was.
Kelvis Rodriquez Tormes, 37, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. Sunday and charged with first degree murder with a firearm, destruction of evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in the shooting death of 22-year-old Desmond Armond Joshua Jr., according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Daily News.
Joshua was working the Orlando drive-thru when Tormes’ partner, believed to be Ashley Mason, became screaming about the backup, according to the arrest affidavit.
Mason reportedly got out of the car and “threatened to bring her ‘man’ to the restaurant,” after which she was given a refund for her $40 order, witnesses told Orlando police.
After a few minutes in the parking lot in her car, Mason then reportedly left and returned with Tormes, who threatened to fight Joshua.
The two struggled before Tormes got a gun and told Joshua, ‘You got two seconds before I shoot you,’” the affidavit states.
Witnesses heard shots and saw Joshua fall to the ground, then Tormes and Mason left in their cars, according to the affidavit.
Police tracked Mason by her car and she identified Tormes as the alleged shooter.
Tormes allegedly dismantled the gun and hid it, officials said.
