FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — A “Dogg-Napper” is behind bars after he was caught on camera snatching a beloved 3.5-foot Snoop Dogg bobblehead from a Florida restaurant on Monday night.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged thief, 50-year-old Rocco John Benedetto, is now in custody after he took the figurine from Catina Laredo restaurant in Fort Myers.

Surveillance footage showed the moment Benedetto took the $1,250 bobblehead.

NBC Affiliate WBBH said Cantina Laredo’s general manager, Joy Duda, shared that detectives told the 50-year-old to return the figurine to LCSO headquarters. However, Benedetto chose to “drop it like it’s hot” at the restaurant.

WBBH reported that the Southwest Florida restaurant will pursue charges against Benedetto.

LCSO said Benedetto turned himself in at the sheriff’s office Wednesday. He is currently being held at the Lee County Jail and is facing a grand theft charge.

According to the local news station, it’s hard “being Snoop D-O-Double-G” in Southwest Florida, as a similar bobblehead was stolen from a Cape Coral Circle K in 2022.
