Florida man critically injured in crash on U.S. 27 in northwest Marion County

The southbound lanes of U.S. 27 near County Road 464B, about 10 miles north of Ocala, were closed for a time Sunday afternoon as Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigated a crash that critically injured a 67-year-old Loxahatchee, Florida man.

According to an FHP press release, the driver was headed south on U.S. 27, "left the roadway to right" and struck a fence and tree. The release states the type of vehicle was a sedan and the driver, the only occupant, wore a seat belt.

The driver was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center in critical condition, according to the release. The patrol no longer provides names in its releases.
