Florida man falsely reported dead body at McDonald’s in order to get a ride home

Instead of a taxi, he called 911.

A Florida man called police early Friday morning to report a dead body outside a Winter Haven McDonald’s.

“He rambled a few inaudible comments and then hung up,” police said in a statement. “Naturally, numerous officers and deputies swiftly head to McDonald’s.”

But when officers arrived, instead of a dead body, they found 46-year-old Jermaine Williams, sitting on the curb and waiting for a ride home.

Officials determined that Williams had called 911 multiple times that evening, looking for a ride, before pivoting to the false report.

“Yeah, he got a ride this morning alright, to the luxurious accommodations at the Polk County Jail,” the Winter Haven Police Department said.

Williams was charged with misuse of 911.
