Florida man hospitalized after crashing into iguana

A Florida man’s Friday was ruined after an iguana appeared out of nowhere and caused him to crash his bicycle in the Florida Keys, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

He was on a bike trail near Crane Point Hammock in Marathon when the iguana ran in front of him. The iguana became entangled between the front tire and the wheel fork of the bicycle, causing the tire to lock and throwing the victim over the handlebars, the sheriff’s office said.

The man had scapes and cuts to his head, arms and right leg which required stitches. He was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

“The condition of the iguana did not appear as stable,” quipped the sheriff’s office.
