Is minimum wage the same for most states? Actually, no.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the range varies from $2 to just under $18 an hour.

Florida’s minimum wage increased from $11 an hour to $12 an hour on Sept. 30, 2023. In November 2020, Floridians had voted to raise the state’s minimum wage $1 dollar every September until it hits the $15-per-hour cap or until September 2026.

The minimum wage for tipped employees jumped to $8.97 an hour on Sept. 30, 2023, up from $7.98. To compare, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour.

Below is a list of minimum wage by state as of Oct. 6, 2023, from the U.S. Department of Labor.

What is the minimum wage for Alabama?

There is no minimum wage law. Employers subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act must pay the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour.

What is the minimum wage for Alaska?

Basic minimum rate per hour is $10.85.

What is the minimum wage for Arizona?

Basic minimum rate per hour is $13.85.
