The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) announced that it had successfully evacuated 14 people, including 12 Floridians, out of Haiti and transported then to Florida on Wednesday, March 20.

These images published by the FDEM show the evacuees arriving in Orlando Sanford International Airport.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said that he was “proud of the work we have done to get Floridians home and reunite them with their families” as gang warfare continued to cause chaos across Haiti.

The FDEM said that they would continue to run more flights to transport Floridians out of Haiti.

The evacuations come after DeSantis declared a state of emergency in Florida, which directed multiple state resources to the Florida Keys in preparation for “an influx of illegal immigrants from Haiti.” Credit: Florida Division of Emergency Management via Storyful
