Florida primary election 2022: See results from Pensacola, Escambia, Santa Rosa voting

Florida voters head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the 2022 primary and nonpartisan general elections.

In local races, one of the biggest contests on the ballot is for Pensacola mayor. Two city council members and two political newcomers are vying to replace outgoing Mayor Grover Robinson.

Two city council seats are also up for grabs in Districts 2 and 6.

Escambia voters will decide two county commission seats, including Districts 2 and 4. Three school board seats are also up for grabs in Districts 1, 2, 3.

On the ballot for Santa Rosa voters are two county commission seats in Districts 2 and 4. Voters will also choose three new school board members representing Districts 1, 3 and 5.

Gaetz faces multiple challengers in congressional race

At the national level, U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz is facing multiple challengers for Florida's first Congressional District.

In the Republican primary race, voters will decide between incumbent Gaetz, Greg Merk, and Mark Lombardo, while Peggy Schiller and Rebekah Jones will vie for the Democratic nomination.

There are also four seats up for grabs in the Florida Legislature, including the Florida Senate District 1 race. Voters will select three new state representatives in House Districts 1, 2 and 3.

When do polls open and close on Election Day?

Polling locations in Florida are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters in line by 7 p.m. will be permitted to cast their ballot. Find your precinct if you are an Escambia County voter or view this precinct list if you are a Santa Rosa County resident.

Can I register to vote on Election Day in Florida?

Florida does not allow same-day voter registration. The deadline to register to vote is 29 days prior to the election. For the Aug. 23 primary, the last day to register was July 25.

Do I need ID to vote?

To vote in Florida, you must present a valid photo ID with signature. Here's what's accepted:

  • Florida driver’s license

  • Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

  • United States passport

  • Debit or credit card

  • Military identification

  • Student identification

  • Retirement center identification

  • Neighborhood association identification

  • Public assistance identification

  • Veteran health identification card issued by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs

  • License to carry a concealed weapon or firearm issued pursuant to s. 790.06

  • Employee identification card issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the Federal Government, the state, a county, or a municipality

According to the Florida Division of Elections, you can still vote on a provisional ballot if you don't bring proper ID. As long as you are eligible and voted in the proper precinct, your provisional ballot will count, provided the signature on your provisional ballot matches the signature in your registration record.
