Florida Pulse: Experts discuss impact of new Florida laws effective July 1

The June Florida Pulse focuses on the new laws going into effect in the state on July 1.

The new laws will impact everything from abortion to education to even what is the Sunshine State's official dessert. (Hint: it's NOT Key Lime Pie.)

Watch Capital Bureau reporters James Call and John Kennedy, along with FLORIDA TODAY Opinion and Engagement Editor John A. Torres, for an informative analysis about the new laws and what they mean for the citizens of Florida. Some of the other topics covered include the state budget and the billions of dollars in reserves, and controversial bills regarding what can be taught in schools and another that Gov. Ron DeSantis says "gives children and families tools to stand up against discrimination and woke indoctrination."

Call and Kennedy are longtime statehouse reporters who know the ins and outs of the Florida Legislature.

Kennedy is also one of the hosts of the "Inside Florida Politics" podcast. Torres is a longtime columnist at FLORIDA TODAY and creator and host of the Murder on the Space Coast podcast.
