Florida’s Sarasota-Bradenton airport gets a new nonstop flight to the Northeast

Budget carrier Avelo Airlines announced that it will begin offering service between Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and Wilmington Airport, Delaware, starting Nov. 2.

Wilmington Airport is a convenient and travel-friendly alternative to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) for travelers heading to Philadelphia and the greater Delaware Valley Region, the airline said in a press release Thursday.

Avelo is the first and only airline offering nonstop service between Wilmington Airport and SRQ.

This will be Avelo’s third nonstop route from SRQ since starting service to Tweed-New Haven Airport in January 2022 and Raleigh-Durham International Airport in February 2023.

The Wilmington-SRQ route will be twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, utilizing Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft.

Introductory one-way fares between SRQ and ILG start at $49. Customers can make reservations at AveloAir.com.

Fares must be booked by Aug. 22. Additional fees for carry-on and checked bags, assigned seats and other optional services may apply.
