Florida Shutting Off Federal Jobless Aid In Move Dubbed 'Return To Work' Initiative

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity announced Monday that starting June 26 the state will no longer participate in the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program.

- The Sunshine State is joining a growing list of Republican-led states that plan to end participation in a federal program that gives an extra benefit to the unemployed during the pandemic. That added benefit was an extra $300 per week. The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity made the announcement today and says the withdrawal, no more $300, goes into effect June 26.
