Florida State DT Tru Thompson announces transfer commitment to Jackson State football

Jackson State football has landed a commitment from Tru Thompson, a defensive tackle from Deion Sanders' alma mater Florida State.

Thompson was rated as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2019 playing for Grayson in Loganville, Georgia.

Thompson played in one game for the Seminoles in 2021 as a redshirt sophomore. He appeared in 21 games in three seasons at Florida State, posting 23 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.

Thompson entered the transfer portal in December. He's the 10th transfer to commit to Jackson State for the 2022 class. Thompson is the first defensive tackle commitment.

The Tigers have also added commitments from junior college players Keylon Kennedy, a defensive back, and offensive lineman Christian Henderson.

Jackson State has three commitments from high school seniors: defensive back Travis Hunter (nation's No. 1 overall prospect), Kevin Coleman (nation's No. 4 wide receiver), and Joanes Fortilien (three-star wide receiver).
