Florida State football: Linebacker Tatum Bethune announces return to Seminoles next season

Another key player for the Florida State football team has announced he will return for the 2023 season.

Bethune, who earned honorable mention All-ACC this past season, was second on the team in tackles (76) and second in tackles for loss (8.5). He also added 2.5 sacks, a pass breakup and a fumble return.

He began his career with UCF, where he recorded 185 tackles, including 13.0 for loss, to go along with 4.5 sacks, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and five QB hurries in 35 games (17 starts).

Bethune, who is from Miami, will be the returning tackler back next season for the Seminoles with safety Jammie Robinson headed to the draft.

Fellow linebacker Kalen DeLoach announced on Tuesday he was returning for next season. DJ Lundy is also expected back, which will leave FSU with its main core from this season.

Bethune, DeLoach, as well as quarterback Jordan Travis, receiver Mycah Pittman and cornerback Renardo Green, are among the players who have announced they will return next season.

The Seminoles have lost eight players to the transfer portal so far this offseason:

Receiver Keyshawn Helton, offensive lineman Rod Orr, along with defensive tackles Jarrett Jackson and Shambre Jackson, defensive end George Wilson, linebacker and former Chiles High star Amari Gainer and defensive backs Sam McCall and Sidney Williams.

FSU added defensive tackle and former Gadsden County High standout Darrell Jackson from the transfer portal from Miami on Wednesday.
