Florida State football: Three players to know ahead of Saturday's game against Boston College

Welcome back to Doak Campbell Stadium. For the first time since the season opener Aug. 27 against Duquesne, Florida State football plays a home game.

The Seminoles are riding high off a 35-31 comeback victory over Louisville on the road to open ACC play.

Now, FSU (3-0, 1-0 ACC) turns its attention to Boston College (1-2, 0-1 ACC) at 8 p.m. Saturday.

The Seminoles are entering the contest with major injury questions. Here are the three FSU players to watch this weekend.

Travis practicing: Florida State football: Quarterback Jordan Travis back at practice, moving around

Quarterback Tate Rodemaker

Rodemaker filled in admirably for starter Jordan Travis when he sustained his lower left leg injury, leading the Seminoles to the come-from-behind victory over Louisville.

Travis has been back at practice, ramping up activity Wednesday. Travis' status likely won't be revealed until around game time.

If Rodemaker gets the start, it would be just his second career start. His first one came two years ago against Jacksonville State. He went 8-for-12 passing for 58 yards and threw a pick-six before being benched for Travis.

For the Seminoles to maintain their perfect start, they will need Rodemaker to be more efficient and protect the ball, if he gets the start.

Update: Jordan Travis is expected to start, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Travis has completed 67,7% of his passes for 624 yards, four touchdowns and an interception.

Travis suffered an apparent left leg injury with 4:21 left in the first half against Louisville following a sack by YaYa Diaby for a loss of 10 yards and did not return.

Running back Treshaun Ward

What better player to take the pressure off the backup quarterback than the running back?

Ward is the leading rusher for the Seminoles this season with 40 rushes for 302 yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging 7.6 yards per carry and has amassed 100 yards in two of the three contests.

Last week against the Cardinals, he compiled 10 runs for 126 yards. According to Pro Football Focus, his overall offensive grade of 85.7 is the best 10th best among backs in FBS. Ward's 84.8 rushing grade is tied for 16th best in the nation.

Cornerback Renardo Green

As the Democrat's Carter Karels pointed out, Green has been the highest-graded outside cornerback for FSU this season, of players who have played enough snaps to qualify. His 70.9 overall grade PFF grade leads all Seminoles.

Through the first three games he has yet to yield a touchdown pass in his coverage. Another test awaits him Saturday in Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers.

Flowers leads the Eagles with 22 catches for 285 yards and three touchdowns. Last week against Maine, he had eight grabs for 89 yards and a score.

BC is struggling with injuries to its offensive line, and the run game hasn't been reliable. So Flowers is the key to the offense.
