Florida State football undrafted free agent tracker 2022

The 2022 NFL Draft offered a telling glimpse at the state of the Florida State football program.

The Seminoles flaunted their transfer portal success when the New York Jets picked defensive end Jermaine Johnson II at 26th overall Thursday. The last time an FSU player went in the first round came in 2019 via defensive end Brian Burns to the Carolina Panthers at No. 16.

No other Seminole player being selected in this draft, though, showed that FSU still has much to accomplish before completing its extensive rebuild under head coach Mike Norvell. One pick is tied for the fewest number of Seminoles selected in the NFL Draft since none were taken in 1983. And it’s the second time that’s happened in the last three years.

Defensive end Keir Thomas and running back Jashaun Corbin were perceived to be FSU’s likeliest draft picks beyond Johnson but weren’t selected. Corbin earned enough recognition to receive an invite to the NFL Scouting Combine. In February, Corbin joined Johnson and competed at the evaluation event in Indianapolis.

Corbin, Thomas and Johnson also participated in FSU’s Pro Day on March 29, along with linebackers DeCalon Brooks and Emmett Rice, quarterback McKenzie Milton, offensive lineman Devontay Love-Taylor, defensive back Meiko Dotson, wide receiver Andrew Parchment and tight end Jordan Wilson.

The nine undrafted players from that group still have a chance to make an NFL roster. For updates on where these Seminoles sign as undrafted free agents, follow along below.

Jashaun Corbin unites with Giants

The most surprising FSU player that went undrafted announced he's joining the New York Giants.

Jashaun Corbin took a risk by passing on a final season at FSU to pursue the NFL. The two-year starter for the Seminoles earned an invite to the NFL Combine and finished the draft as ESPN's seventh-best available running back. So he likely came close to hearing his name called.

In his four-year collegiate career, Corbin showed promise but never surpassed 150 carries or 1,000 rushing yards. He played at his best last season, recording 887 yards and seven touchdowns on 143 carries while turning 25 catches into 144 yards and a score.

FSU plucked Corbin from the transfer portal before the 2020 season. Corbin played two seasons for Texas A&M before suffering a major leg injury and transferring. He verbally committed to the Seminoles as a recruit in the 2018 class before flipping to the Aggies and following head coach Jimbo Fisher.

Keir Thomas picked up by Rams

The reigning Super Bowl Champion Los Angeles Rams are adding Keir Thomas, the former FSU defensive lineman announced.

The pre-draft process seemed to lower Thomas' chances of being drafted. He's considered the biggest NFL Combine snub among eligible Seminole players. Agent Yossi Behar told the Osceola that Thomas could not hold workouts with teams after tweaking his hamstring at FSU's Pro Day.

Thomas impressed in his lone season with the Seminoles. The South Carolina transfer claimed third-team All-ACC honors after accounting for 42 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries in 12 games.

Jordan Wilson trying luck with Bengals

Tight end Jordan Wilson told 247Sports that he has accepted a mini-camp invite from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Wilson spent two seasons of his six-year collegiate career at FSU. He transferred from UCLA before the 2020 season and mostly shared duties with Camren McDonald. After suffering a season-ending leg injury during preseason camp, Wilson missed the 2020 season. Then he appeared in all 12 games with six starts last season and tallied 11 receptions for 132 yards.

In four seasons with the Bruins, Wilson saw action in 34 games and started in seven of them. He caught 25 passes for 244 yards and a pair of scores during that span.

Emmett Rice following Corbin to Giants

Linebacker Emmett Rice told 247Sports that he will join Corbin after accepting a mini-camp invite from the New York Giants.

Rice brings plenty of experience as a two-year starter with a six-season tenure at FSU. He appeared in 51 games with 18 starts during that span, totaling 62 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss and a sack.

But Rice missed all of last season after suffering a brutal leg injury last spring.

Andrew Parchment joins Panthers

Wide receiver Andrew Parchment made public his intentions to sign with the Carolina Panthers.

At FSU, Parchment will always be remembered for his critical 24-yard catch on fourth-and-14 against Miami last November. The play set up a one-yard touchdown run from quarterback Jordan Travis with 26 seconds left, which helped the Seminoles defeat the Hurricanes 31-28.

Before last season, Parchment transferred from Kansas to FSU. He caught 24 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns across 12 games with the Seminoles.

Devontay Love-Taylor added by Buccaneers

Offensive lineman Devontay Love-Taylor confirmed via Twitter that he has accepted a mini-camp invite from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

With his eligibility expiring, Love-Taylor was FSU's only starting offensive lineman from last season who is no longer with the program. He started 16 games but battled injuries in his two seasons on the Seminoles.

Like Corbin, Love-Taylor transferred to FSU before the 2020 season. Love-Taylor previously spent three seasons with Florida International, appearing in 32 games with 16 starts. He claimed honorable mention All-Conference USA recognition in 2019.
