College football Week 1 picks, predictions:

Sports Chat Place: Take Florida State with the points vs. LSU

It writes: "I’m probably going to try Florida State here. In their opener, the Seminoles ran all over the place with a whopping 406 rush yards, 33 first downs and 76 total plays. It was about as lopsided as a game can get; Florida State’s only real blemishes were five penalties and an interception. The Seminoles will be riding high coming into this matchup. As for LSU, it’ll be interesting to see what new head coach Brian Kelly has in store for the team. They’re going to need some tweaks on both sides of the ball, but if they can get the offensive line and run defense sharpened up from last year things will be looking up. There are some intriguing pieces to work with, so it’s going to be a fun season for the Tigers as they work to get back to a bowl game and relevance in the conference. I don’t think they’re quite ready to cover here just yet, but it should be a great matchup and something of a coin flip either way."

James Parks writes: "The Seminoles are coming off a Week 0 rout over Duquesne behind a superb rushing effort, a good test for LSU's interior front seven off the bat in Brian Kelly's first outing. Not to mention all the other positions Kelly had to replenish, not least offensive line and quarterback."

Will Jayden Daniels and the LSU football team beat Florida State in their Week 1 college football game on Sunday?

Lafayette Daily Advertiser: LSU 31, Florida State 24

Koki Riley writes: "With so many new players and coaches, LSU might look disjointed from the jump. But the Tigers' superior talent and Kelly's familiarity with the Seminoles after facing them last season at Notre Dame should give LSU the upper hand."

LSU Reveille: LSU 28, Florida State 20

Henry Huber writes: "Most people are writing the Seminoles off as an easy opening victory for the Tigers, and while I understand where they are coming from. I don’t think it will be as easy as fans are hoping it will be.  Still, Florida State hasn’t beaten an SEC opponent since 2017, and Brian Kelly hasn’t lost an opening game since 2016. While the Seminoles finished last season relatively strong, they still lost to a fallen Florida team to finish it out.   Florida State will have some long runs and won’t get blown out, but Brian Kelly will keep his opening game win streak alive."

247 Sports: LSU 34, Florida State 20

Glen West writes: "A two touchdown advantage might be a little on the aggressive side but LSU will have something to prove in week one against the Seminoles in the Superdome. Keep in mind, this game will also mark the first time the Tigers have played in the Dome since that 2020 national championship game."

Fansided: LSU 28, Florida State 27

Kelvin Hunt writes: "The Noles are rebuilding, and LSU is in a similar spot to when FSU hired Willie Taggart. They have a new head coach in Brian Kelly, and it’ll be the third straight season Mike Norvell has faced off against Kelly. Each game has gotten progressively closer, and this might be the opportune time for Norvell to get over the hump. LSU is more talented, but they have some holes the Noles might be able to exploit. FSU will have a game under their belt, and it’ll be LSU’s first game. The game within the game will be FSU’s offensive line against LSU’s defensive line, and similarly vice-versa."
