Floridians warned to avoid beaches as deadly jellyfish brought ashore by storm

Florida residents have been warned to avoid beaches as storms have brought deadly jellyfish to the coast.

The powerful storm has created high seas and heavy winds and washed up dozens of man o’ war jellyfish onto beaches, which can be easily stepped on.

Even when dead and on a beach, jellyfish retain the menacing ability to sting.

Man o’ war venom is capable of paralyzing and killing small fish and crustaceans, and while not usually fatal to humans, packs a very painful punch and can cause large welts on the skin.
