Editor's note: The Chick-fil-A restaurant at 9601 S. Padre Island Drive in Flour Bluff is set to open Thursday, Nov. 17.

A new Chick-fil-A location is coming to Flour Bluff.

One hundred Chick-fil-A fans camped overnight in the parking lot of the Corpus Christi location, at 13701 Northwest Blvd. in Calallen, to earn a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A after the location's opening in July 2019.

The beloved fast food chain is opening its eighth restaurant in the Corpus Christi area at the corner of South Padre Island Drive and Flour Bluff Drive, according to city of Corpus Christi building permit applications.

The restaurant will be built near In The Game Funtrackers.

There are seven Chick-fil-A restaurants in the Corpus Christi area, including five on the city's Southside and Bay Area. The chain opened a location in Calallen in 2019 and Portland in 2021.

The chicken restaurant also has licensed locations at La Palmera mall and on the campuses of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
