The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch prepares to show off colorful display

CARLSBAD, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Spring time is around the corner and that means it’s time for The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch to show their true colors.

This year’s theme is “Spring into Color,” per the flower farm. The meaning behind the theme is both the arrival of spring and celebration of the its 55 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus, which is a flower known for its large, double-petaled blooms that sit atop tall, straight stems.

In late January, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch’s first Ranunculus bloomed, but peak bloom usually occurs around six to eight weeks each year between early March through early May, according to the company.

The Flower Fields will reopen on Friday, Mar. 1, where guests will be able to check out the dazzling display of flowers, live music performances, workshops and wellness classes.

“The color that The Flower Fields brings each spring extends far beyond our rows of rainbow ranunculus.” said Fred Clarke, general manager of The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. “From the brightly painted wagons that bring visitors into the fields, to vendors serving eye-catching lemonade and ice-cream dipped in sprinkles to the blueberry picking, Sea of Sunflowers and various gardens, color truly abounds at every turn.”
