Jill Sobule plays for the Rustin Center

Iconic “I Kissed a Girl” singer/songwriter Jill Sobule returns to Princeton for a fundraising concert in support of the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, where she is the musician-in-residence.

Sobule plays the Rustin Center at 7 p.m. Saturday to support the LGBTQ community hub.

“I consider myself an activist, and part of what I do, I believe, is these sorts of things," Sobule said of her work in support of the Rustin Center in 2021. "I always say I’ve become the nonprofit singer, and that’s important to me — that’s just part of my DNA. That’s what I do and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s more important to me to feel like you’re leaving a gig feeling like you did some good other than playing a bar.”

Go: Jill Sobule, 7 p.m. Saturday, Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, 12 Stockton St., Princeton, $25; tickets available via eventbrite.com.
