Flowery Branch eighth-grader Peyton Davis selected for US Junior Softball qualifier in Texas

Nov. 3—CW Davis Middle eighth grader Peyton Davis will take part in the USA Junior Olympic Softball Team Trials, starting Friday in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite, Texas.

A right-handed pitcher, Davis played in 2022 with Flowery Branch's junior varsity program.

Recently, she was selected to attend the USA Softball High Performance Program National Selection event in Texas, after being selected as 1 of 18 pitchers in the 14-under age group.

Locally, Davis plays for coach Chad O'Neal's Georgia Impact Premier Team, which is compromised with an elite group of athletes who are in the Class of 2027 and 2028.

Through the USA Softball High Performance Program, athletes have the chance to make a USA Softball National Team in multiple age groups, starting at the regional level.

"Peyton is a great kid with all the physical tools and ability to succeed on the softball field," Flowery Branch High varsity coach Blake Cagle said. "What I really like more than the physical tools, is her competitive spirit on the field and her eagerness to learn the game as she matures. I am excited to have her be in the program and can't wait to see how she grows and matures throughout the next four years on and off the field."
