Flu shot clinics on way for Freeport area. Here's a schedule

Thinking of getting a flu shot this year? FHN has a number of opportunities throughout the Freeport area.

“If your last flu shot was before June 1, 2023, you need a new one for the coming season,” FHN Infection Preventionist Margie Kochsmier, said in a recent news release.

Here's what you need to know about the upcoming flu clinics.

Can anyone get a shot?

All of FHN's flu shot clinics are open to the public.

What kind of shot will I get?

Adults under 65 years of age will get a quadrivalent vaccine that protects against 4 strains of influenza. for $32. Adults 65 and over will receive a high-dose version of the vaccine ($70). There is no out-of-pocket expense for those covered by Medicare Part B (please present Medicare card) or a Medicare HMO accepted by FHN (list available at each location – covered persons MUST present the Medicare HMO card instead of the Medicare card for the billing process).

How much do the shots cost?

The quadrivalent vaccine for adults under 65 is $32. The high-dose version is $70. According to a news release from FHN, there is no out-of-pocket expense for those covered by Medicare Part B (must present Medicare card) or a Medicare HMO accepted by FHN (Lists area available at each location and covered persons must present the Medicare HMO card instead of the Medicare card for billing).

No other insurance coverage can be accepted at these flu shot clinics, and per government regulations, no Medicaid cards can be accepted at these locations.

Immunizations may be paid for by cash, credit card, or check payable to FHN. Receipts will be available to submit to individuals’ healthcare insurance provider for reimbursement.

Will I also get the COVID-19 booster?

COVID-19 booster vaccines are not available at these events.

What do I need to bring?

Medicare card, if you have one, Medicare HMO card, if you have one, and everyone must show a photo ID.

Can I bring children to one of these clinics?

For their own safety, children should be immunized at their regular healthcare provider’s office.

What if I have an allergy?

Persons with allergy to eggs or the flu vaccine, those with an illness accompanied by a fever or depressed immune system should not receive the flu immunization at these locations.

Can children get flu shots at the drive-thru clinic?

No. Children cannot receive their flu shot at any of the drive-through clinics.
