Flying out of Providence? These are the 10 most popular destinations from T.F. Green

Where do Rhode Islanders like to travel to (on those rare moments they leave the state)? Florida, of course.

The Providence Journal took a look at the top 10 nonstop flights from T.F. Green International Airport in 2022 compiled from United States Department of Transportation data. Five of the stops on the list are Floridian, including the top spot.

But it’s not only warm cities that people are flying to. Two of the locations on the list are less than seven hours away from Providence.

These are the top destinations with a little bit about each of them.

10. Charlotte, North Carolina

With the slogan “Charlotte’s got a lot,” there’s plenty to do in the Queen City from white water rafting in manmade white-water rivers to grabbing a drink at one of the many bars and breweries. It also promises Southern charm and hospitality.

The Palm Beaches bill themselves as “a gentler side of Florida,” with fewer crowds but the same sandy beaches and warm waters to enjoy.

With Sanibel and Captiva islands in this area, this destination is for people who want to take in the Gulf of Mexico, collect a few seashells and view wildlife, whether that be birds or dolphins.

Nicknamed Charm City, Baltimore is full of creative energy when exploring the different neighborhoods that are packed with art (including the largest public collection of Matisse in the world), shopping and cultural sites.

A thriving city, Atlanta is packed with things to do, including the largest aquarium in the United States, Zoo Atlanta, the World of Coca-Cola, and lots of neighborhoods, museums and restaurants to spend some time at.

If you’re heading to Tampa, there’s Busch Gardens, the city and beaches to explore, and it also puts you close to Clearwater and St. Petersburg if you want to spend your trip on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico.
