Nov. 2—OAKVILLE — The author of a new book about writer Harper Lee will give a talk at the Jesse Owens Museum on Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. There is no charge to attend.

Wayne Flynt, former professor of history at Auburn University, will tell the public about his friendship with Lee, who wrote "To Kill a Mockingbird," and his new book "Afternoons with Harper Lee."

Flynt, the author of 14 books, is a researcher of Southern culture, religion, politics, education reform and poverty. He gave the eulogy at Lee's funeral in 2016.

Museum manager Nancy Pinion said the public will have the opportunity to meet Flynt and purchase copies of his new book.

The museum is at 7019 Lawrence County 203 near Danville.
