Kuleba said that after the article appeared, he immediately contacted his colleagues in the European capitals visited by Li Hui. None of them confirmed that negotiations were held to recognize the territories currently controlled by the aggressor state as Russian, he said.

Ukraine is engaged in a dialog with all key partners and is monitoring the situation, he added.

"I urge you to keep a cool mind and common sense, do not be fooled and emotionally react to every publication," Kuleba said.

“We are in control of the process. No one will do anything against us behind our backs because we have built trusting relationships with all our key partners.”

China is "an important interlocutor" and named the principles by which Ukraine will continue to conduct a dialogue with China, said Kuleba, listing:

— Only mutual respect for territorial integrity

— No initiatives that provide for territorial concessions to Ukraine will be considered

— No frozen conflict.

Kuleba added that this position is firm, and it is shared by both he and Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

China's "peace mission" was announced on May 15, which saw China’s top diplomat Li Hui visit Poland, France, and Germany. Beijing said his visits were aimed at discussing a "political settlement" to Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.

Chinese Special Representative Li Hui arrived in Kyiv on May 17. He met with Zelenskyy and Kuleba. They discussed cooperation between the countries and "ways to stop Russian aggression."

The WSJ reported on May 26 that Chinese special envoy Li Hui, during his trips to Europe, called for the occupied territories of Ukraine to be recognized as Russian.

Any territorial concessions in the war with Russia would mean the defeat of democracy and the preservation of the regime of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, said Presidential Office advisor Mykhailo Podolyak on May 26.
