Foiled attempt of migrants crossing Poland border

The Polish border guard said that on Thursday (December 2) 46 attempts to cross the border were made.

Alexander Lukashenko, who denies the allegation that he fomented the crisis, has pressured the EU to accept some migrants while Belarus repatriates others, a demand the bloc has so far flatly rejected.

Belarus said on Friday (December 3) it would retaliate after the United States and its allies imposed sanctions against dozens of individuals and entities there, and it complained that its economy was facing unprecedented external pressure.

The crisis on the Belarusian border, involving thousands of migrants from Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere all hoping to get into the European Union, has dragged on for months.
