Foley Family Establishes Journalism Scholarship at Their Son's Alma Mater

James Foley's family has established a journalism scholarship on his behalf. Foley attended Marquette University, graduating with an undergraduate degree in the arts in 1996. The James Foley Scholarship will be in the J. William and Mary Diederich College of Communication.

The funds donated to the scholarship will go to "provide financial assistance for a communications student who otherwise would be unable to attend Marquette," said the Foley family in a statement

Beyond funding, the scholarship will also provide a mentoring program. The program will be staffed by Foley's family and friends. These mentors will encourage students at Marquette to follow in Foley's footsteps by providing "a voice for people whose stories would otherwise go untold."
